The World Bank has raised Nigeria's 2026 economic growth forecast to 4.3%, up from an earlier projection of 4.0%, with growth expected to reach 4.4% annually in 2027 and 2028. The revision, contained in the World Bank's October 2026 Africa Economic Update, credits improving macroeconomic stability, strengthening investor confidence, and a gradual recovery in private investment. The upgrade follows Nigeria's economy expanding at its fastest pace in five years in the second quarter of 2026, growing 4.43% year-on-year according to the National Bureau of Statistics. Nigeria also climbed four places to 8th in Bloomberg's latest ranking of Africa's most investable markets, overtaking Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Namibia — though the improved outlook comes alongside a notable rise in the country's public debt.
